Trucos para poner los subtítulos que quiera en Nexflix / Tricks to watch Netflix with the Subtitles
¿Cuántas veces le ha dicho su profesor de inglés que vea programas en Netflix (sí, en inglés) para que le ayude a mejorar su listening? ¿Lo hizo? Si lo hizo, pero no vio, ningún programa de los de Netflix Original, probablemente tuvo que verlo con subtítulos “impuestos” en su lengua madre. How many times has your English teacher told you to try watching something on Netflix (yes, in English) to help with your listening? Did you do it? If you did, and you didn’t watch a Netflix Original, you probably had to put up with the subtitles “imposed” on you in your native language. This isn’t a perfect situation as they can be a big distraction and actually stop you from listening and leave you reading instead.
For those of you who own a laptop or use a PC (this should also work on Mac) there is a way to change these subtitles for the ones you want – the English ones if your show/film was filmed in English – or turn them off completely.
Note: If you only watch Netflix on your smartphone, tablet or Smart TV, using the Netflix app, this won’t work as it requires you to stream your content using Google’s Chrome browser, with a couple of plugins installed.
Assuming you have Chrome installed (https://www.google.com/chrome/), visit the Chrome Store to install the plugins you need and get started.
1. Apagar los subtítulos usando ‘Unsubtitle para Netflix’

1. Turn off Subtitles using ‘Unsubtitle for Netflix’
This is the simplest option to remove those ‘unwanted’ subtitles. All you have to do is search the Chrome Store for ‘Unsubtitle for Netflix’, and when it appears click the “Add to Chrome” button.

Next, open Netflix in Chrome, play your favourite show and click the grey icon in the top right-hand corner of your browser. It will turn green and the subtitles will disappear.

2. Change the language of subtitles using ‘Supernetflix’
Supernetflix does a lot more than just let you change the language of your subtitles, actually allowing you to select various options to enhance your viewing experience; however, in this mini-blog/tutorial, we’re only going to look at how to change your subtitle language. Again, search the Chrome Store but this time for ‘Supernetflix’, and when it appears click the “Add to Chrome” button.

Once it’s installed, you’ll see the Supernetflix icon in your browser, as well as other on-screen tools when Netflix is playing. As you can see we still have some work to do at this point as our subtitles are still only available in the languages provided as standard.

Now the fun part starts, getting the subtitle file you want and in the correct format. Generally speaking, subtitle files are saved in the .srt format (don’t worry too much about this) and they can be found online, or you can make your own, as we did for this demo. (For proficiency level learners or those studying translation, this is a great exercise to do.) Obviously, make sure any subtitles you get come from an approved source so as not to violate any copyright laws.
Sometimes, you may find that your subtitle files are not perfectly synchronized, and a site like Subshifter can be used to adjust them. This may take some time to do well.
Next, you’ll need to convert your subtitles from a .srt file to a .dfxp (This is the format of subtitle file Netflix accepts.) and Subflicks can do this for you.

Next, hover your mouse over the language icon and it will inform you that you can add your .dfxp file.
